It would be cool if this story had a really funny origin, but it doesn't. So here's the truth instead.
So we're in our luxurious second-story rehearsal space at California Rehearsal Studios. It's the middle of summer, nice and too-warm, and we're running through our setlists for extra polish. Elektro picked up a wicked cold so he's not exactly up to snuff anyway,
and for some reason he and Chynna start talking about how "pants" is an inherently funny word. (Try it--say it out loud, as if it were the punchline to a joke. Comedy gold.) Then someone said you could make the songs better if you randomly replaced one word in the title with the word "pants" instead, which works well because it's not only a noun but a verb in the third person singular ("He or she pants," as if suffering from the heat in our rehearsal space). That set up an entire night of unwanted brainstorming as nearly the entire setlist got, well, pantsed. To wit, some of the trouserfied titles:
